How to Forward a Call on Mitel

One of the best things about VoIP is the sheer amount of flexibility it affords you. Just like with landline phones, one of the benefits of Mitel’s VoIP system is that it allows you to forward calls. Unlike a landline phone, it gives you several options to actually do this!

01

STEP 1: HOW DO YOU WANT TO FORWARD YOUR CALL?

Mitel provides you with three simple options to forward your call:

  • You can forward your call to your mobile phone, or someone else’s phone
  • You can forward your call to another Mitel phone line, with a 4-digit extension
  • You can also forward your call to a non-Mitel phone line, with a 10-digit extension

A quick note: All incoming calls will go straight to voicemail, during a call forward, after ringing 4 times. This is the default setting and can be changed as per your preferences.

02

STEP 2: SETTING UP YOUR CALL FORWARDING DEFAULTS IN YOUR ACCOUNT

Before you begin with your Call Forwarding setup, make sure the Call Screening option in your Mitel account is disabled or all your incoming calls will go to voicemail on the fourth ring by default.

On your online account, you will find the call forwarding settings under the Call Routing settings section. You can choose to forward your calls in a number of ways:

  • Call will be forwarded instantly to your device without it ringing.
  • Call will be forwarded if you don’t answer it after a set number of rings.
  • Call will be forwarded when your phone set is disconnected or unplugged.
  • Call will be forwarded if there’s any system maintenance taking place

Here’s a step-by-step guide on each forwarding option available and how you can use them:
